Statistics on Dating Violence. More attention is being focused on dating violence, and some surprising statistics are emerging about the prevalence and nature of dating violence.
Dating violence starts early:
- Most teens begin dating between 9 and 12.
- 29% of teens who experience dating violence experience it first at age 12-13.
- 40% of teens who experience dating violence experience it first at age 14-15.
- 29% of teens who experience dating violence experience it first at age 16-17.
Dating violence is widespread:
- One third of Texas teen girls reported experiencing sexual dating violence.
- One third of Texas teen girls reported experiencing physical dating violence.
- Half of Texas teens surveyed report experiencing some form of dating violence.
- 60% of Texas teen girls report that they experienced or perpetrated dating violence.
- 40% of Texas teen boys report that they experienced or perpetrated dating violence.
- One in four girls reports being pressured into going farther sexually than she was comfortable with.
